Braised Cipollini Onions


Braised Cipollini Onions

8 ounces of cipollini onions
2 tablespoons butter
dash of olive oil
4 minced garlic
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper taste

Cut root end off of each onion, just cutting a small amount. Place onions in boiling water for three minutes, drain and remove remainder of outer skin. Melt butter in small sauce pan. Add onions and sauté till onions start to get brown, turning them occasionally.. Add minced garlic and cook for one minute. Add water and sugar, cover and cook onions till soft. Add vinegar and seasoning and serve immediately. Always wanted to try these and they were tasty, but a lot of work for not much reward.
