My studio is behind the aqua blue door. The exterior stucco walls are painted with Olympic paint colors of 'Southern Wood' and the door is 'Aqua Bay'. I still have to add more trim board around the door. But what about the color. Should I paint it the stucco color or the blue or perhaps a light tan? What do you think? I think the white is too stark a contrast.
A little paint makes a big difference, don't you think? Our neighbors said they loved the color of the walls and are now thinking of painting their basement walls. The exterior basement stucco walls were never painted. I don't know why folks don't paint foundations. I always have, what do you think? The color 'Southern Wood' almost matches the color of the decks above. I'll take an overall photo to show you next time. Have a good weekend. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
I would go with a slightly lighter version of the 'Southern Wood' Or (my preference) a darker version of the 'Aqua Bay'
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to going through the door!
I am drawn to aqua/turquoise against rusty browns. Reminds me of glazes on clay!
ReplyDeleteColors appeal to me, too. The blue door looks great.
ReplyDeleteHere in Hawaii, my house is yellow and the doors and trim are white. Our driveway is painted green.
Artists make great color choices. I agree, the white is too stark. Just like the doors when I had the barn resided. So we painted them grey and the kids painted sunflowers all over them.
ReplyDeleteThe aqua reminds me of Taos, New Mexico. Have you seen this article:

I love the aqua door. I am in the minority here when I say I like the white trim, I think it highlights the door and draws your eye to it.
ReplyDeleteLooks nice. I'd go bold and go with a mustardy color for the trim!
ReplyDeleteI love the aqua door too!! It looks so beautiful. I'm always impressed by how well you renovate everything in your house. I can't wait to see your new kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteI quite like the white trim - it makes a definite statement that entering the portal takes you somewhere different. I also love the sound of Joanne's sunflower painted door.
ReplyDeleteThe color is stunning. The white looks fine to me, but maybe you could try a light tan. Love the stucco painted too.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzi, thanks, I know it needs something just can't decide, hat to try too many colors cause the cabinets start filling up with paint cans. Ha.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, I am with you I love brown and aqua together reminds me of the southwest.
Hi Gigi, thanks, oh color should be used everywhere no sense having a dull place. Ha.
Hi Joanne, thanks, gray with sunflowers, must have been a sight to see.
Hi Lori, thanks, oh yes Taos I must be missing the southwest more than I know, will definitely check out the article.
Hi Michele, thanks, we're trying to tie the upper floor to the lower floor somehow and there is white on the upper but it's more of a dingy white of the metal trim to the house, maybe off white.
Hi Jennie, thanks, oh mustardy, it would be a hard color to choose but I mentioned it to Gary and he said yes, go bold. we may just do it.
Hi Sapphire, thanks, oh we just can't leave things be I guess and this place really did need the paint and deck stain for sure, neglected work really.
Hi Elephant's child, thanks, I will have to paint the trim because I think it's just primer, so much to decide.
Hi Barbara, thanks, the light tan was my first choice because the upper story vinyl siding is light tan but we shall see. decisions, decisions. ugh.
Can't wait to see the final decision!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennie, thanks, I'm going to the store today to get some paint chips, I might as well try to go bold, after all it just paint and I can always paint over it if I don't like the color.
