Icy Flowers and Craving Color

Each morning lately when I look out the window I see a gray landscape covered with a frost. With ninety percent humidity this is a heavy frost. Can you see the trail of thick white smoke coming from a neighbor's chimney in the middle right? I can almost see ice patterns in the grassy field below left.

Typing this, immediately I think of a black slip covered with some trailed white slip over the top of the black slip, mimicking, emulating the ice patterns. Maybe white over green. I may have to try that. Above is what Kelly Photography captured in a grassy field, wonderful icy flowers. Click the link to see more icy flowers.

But this post is about craving color which I found myself doing the last few days. I've been using up small bits of clay to make the last few pieces. It's rather amazing what can come of just the cut offs and left overs of clay. These two small windowsill vases are examples of that. First some lavender dots and then bright blue and green.

Hopefully I'll get a grouping of these made to photograph on a windowsill. Now I'm thinking I need to make contrasting shapes, some tall, maybe some oddly shaped to add to a grouping. Perhaps this morning I'll make a sketch of a grouping. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
