Yesterday I thought to go big and tall. I started with a ten inch base which swelled to twelve inches then I started to taper in and finally ended up with eighteen inches tall. Just tall enough to fit in the kiln, I hope.
Gary came by and said can you pick it up. Just barely I said. Oh so very carefully did I pick it up and move it to another dry piece of sheetrock. And now several times more to keep the bottom nice and dry. It's about twelve pounds or more but will loose weight as it dries. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
My goodness! That's a beauty!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, thanks, not sure what it's good for but we'll see if it makes it.
DeleteWhow...with just a photo of it, it's hard to tell the scale...but I'm glad you gave dimensions...and heavy! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, look behind the second photo, that's a ruler on the right showing the height, it's an eighteen inch ruler. I curved in the top to make it a bit shorter to fit (hopefully) in the kiln.
DeleteIt won't be that heavy after it dries and fires, it will loose a lot of it's weight.
DeleteIt's a beauty. We haven't seen tall for awhile.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, I have to fill one side of the kiln with tall ones so to make it efficient for firing I have to make a few tall ones.
DeleteWow. A truly dramatic accent piece.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, we shall see after the glaze firing.
Deletehope it fires well for you after all that effort
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, thanks, yes I hope so too. too a while to make.
