Rose and Chartreuse
A few of the Western redbud leaves are turning due to the unseasonably cool weather these last few days. The green veins are so wonderful contrasted against the rose color. I like how the edge of the leaf is just a little darker like a thin frame. The green veins look like they are spilling into the rose, but I know the rose is invading the green.
When I walked in the front yard I noticed the Tropicana canna leaves were almost the same color as the redbud. The green is a little more chartreuse, like Meredith's zinnia, but the rose is almost the same hue as the redbud leaves.
I thought I'd like to make ceramic piece using these colors, perhaps even using the veining. Then I thought about using the colors in the canna leaves too.
I could see myself painting all the little veins, but could I achieve such wonderful colors? I know Kitty Shepherd could achieve these colors.
I know I can't duplicate mother nature exactly, but I'm inspired by the leaves and I dream about the colors and my next creation in clay.

IT IS inspiring.
ReplyDeleteWe wish we could make those wonderful colors mother nature seems to make with such ease. I love fall and wish I could paint pots like Jack frost!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
i always like complimentary color combinations... i think judy shreve does stuff with this color combo sometimes.
ReplyDeleteOK so it looks like you live in a garden like RBG Kew, I think we are running parallel thought processes at the moment, don't you!
ReplyDeleteLinda I thought the first leaf was one you made! It is beautiful. I really like the shape...
ReplyDeleteNice colors, Hey Gary.
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith, yeh, I could use a little Jack Frost right now too.
Hi Jim, yes I was so surprised when I did a search for the color rose and the complementary color was spring green. I too love Judy's use of colors, she's a real inspiration to me.
Hi Cindy, thanks so much, that is truly a compliment, you're thinking I made that leaf. These are kind of hidden in the interior of the shrub and I almost missed them I am so glad I didn't. I hope to mix up some of those mason stains I got next week to see what I can come up with. If I can even come half way close to that beautiful leaf it will be a miracle.
Hi Kitty, yes some of the colors here are spectacular, but I doublt my gardens are anything like the Kew, must be the Gemini in us that makes the parallels.
Wow it's been so hot where you live, I never thought fall would becoming. Guess Mother nature has a different plan. I think you might capture the heart of the leave and not the actual picture of the leaf. That is what I see you do best!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, you are probably correct, capturing the essence of nature is all I'm really after and wish to achieve. Thanks so much for your encouragement.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful colors God creates in nature are definitely inspiring - thank you for sharing, and good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, welcome to my blog, thanks for your encouragement, hope you come back to visit often.
ReplyDeleteOoooo .... so beautiful. My magnolia leaves are doing fabulous things because of our weather. I scooped some up and took a photo and am using it as my desktop photo. Leaves are so inspiring! And these photos are amazing.
ReplyDeleteLinda, what incredible photos! I wish I could copy the colors, too. Mother Nature always does it best. sigh.
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie, thanks so much. my magnolia is wonderful this year too; I just love the rough undeside and the shiny top of the leaves. Hope to see you here again.
ReplyDeleteHi Julia, thanks so much about the photos; I almost missed these. Yes, mother nature is wonderful even in a square foot there is much to see and appreciate.
Picture of leaves that you have posted on your website is awesome. Keep it up the good work. Cheers :)
ReplyDeleteHi Flowers, thanks so much, wouldn't they be nice in a floral arrangement? The seed pods of the redbud are great to use and the flowers of the canna are so tropical looking and vibrant orange. Stay tuned I will have a few more leaves very soon to post again from a Bradford pear.
