A Few Green Ones

Here's a few green ones I've been working on. Been glazing all day today, should have some fired work next week.

A lidded box made to look like plywood, with a clay stick for a handle.

A windowsill flower box patterned after a locomotive box car. I put holes in the bottom for water to drain out. I think I might make a tray to catch the water. I added yellow flowers painted on the sides after i took this photo. Now Gary says it's too busy; what do I know.

A vase where I used the cutoffs as sprigs. Tomorrow I'll kiln wash my new shelves, then do a test fire in my new kiln in a day or two. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

  1. Great title for those little green ones. How exciting to get the new kiln set up. Woot!

  2. The tomatoes are making me hungry. I think the wood grain box is wonderful. I might just do a light wash of dark under glaze to bring out the texture. The planter looks fun, it would look great with bright yellow flowers planted in it.

  5. Hi Patricia, thanks, can't wait to get started firing.

Hi Lori, thanks for the suggestion. I have slip I rubbed through to make the texture stand out; I'll see how it fires during the bisque then decide. The slip is pale orange and the clay is terra cotta.

Hi Michele, thanks about the handle, hope it holds together. Hopefully I can get it all together this week to do a firing. So much to do with the tiling going on painting baseboards and various other subcontractors running here and there, hard to keep myself centered.

Hi Cindy, thanks, hopefully I can get it fired, still need three strong men to get it on a stand.
