Yummy Results
Spending a little time reviewing results from this firing this morning. The sprig I tried to glaze onto the geometric pedestal vase fell off again. It fell onto what turned out to be a wonderful glaze result on the leaning vase, which I 'thought' was my least favorite piece. You can see it in the lower right hand side of the kiln. Not sure I can torch this one off since the sprig is glazed up against the vase.
Got some yummy results on all the others though. Saguaro Vase and Shell Basket survived nicely. Upper and lower shelves fired almost exactly the same, cone 6 tipping. More later. Have a good weekend.

Maybe the sprig belongs there. :) Love the yummy violet inside the shell. I'm liking your "side dishes," over there on the right, too. The hollyhock platter is really a sweet idea. Have a great day, Linda!
ReplyDeleteI'm in total awe, Linda. Girl, you're oozing with talent!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you had nice results. The teapot looks special, the shape and the colors took my atention. The plate on upper left side looks great too! Congrats Linda!
ReplyDeletethe tall oval shaped vase on the left looks great... please post a pic of it later!
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa, thanks, perhaps it belongs there, but I will try to torch it off this morning. Violet is one of my favorite colors, glad you like it too. The pieces on the side of the blog are from my cone 10 firing a few years ago, I came across them and decided to change the look of the blog. With them up there I am now thinking about revisiting some of the forms.
ReplyDeleteHi Kittie, thanks, I am really jazzed and have so many ideas of colors and shapes for other pieces; it really helps having my own kiln and being able to control every aspect of the work.
Hi Monique, thanks so much, the teapot came out super and I fired the top separately and amazingly it fits perfectly. The plate on the upper left is a cake pedestal the pedestal doesn't show in the photo and it came out great. Now I want to make more, more, more, mixing and matching the glazes and with the various forms.
Hi Michele, thanks, that vase is the saguaro vase, it came out better than I could have hoped.
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT kiln opening!! Everything looks so sparkly and happy -is that a teapot I spy in there too? mmmm?!! Do take more pics.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, thanks, yes almost all came out great.
ReplyDeleteSaw you over at the BBQ. What a great idea, huh? You are on a roll, cher! Lookin' good!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are enjoying your new kiln! A nice firing, but a shame about the sprig. Must be really exciting being able to fire your own work these days. I loved the Scallop Shell Pinch Bowl on your previous post by the way!
ReplyDeleteHi Marguerite, thanks, yes on a roll I am finally getting all my closets emptied of all this work from the last four or so months, making room for more, te he.
ReplyDeleteHi Peter, thanks, yes, I am really enjoying being about do get all this work fired so quickly. In the future I hope to have a more standardized schedule where I fire every couple of weeks or so.
