Knee Hole Desk

It's out with the old and in with the new this week. New to me anyway. I love the mid century modern style of this knee hole desk. I love all the drawer space and the flare of the legs. The desk is painted and has a wood grain Formica top. I'm not sure it orginally was painted, I'll have to do some investigation. Perhaps I need a lava lamp to sit on the desk. I hope to find a similar style chair to go with the desk. Since I have a laptop, a regular desk is more functional than my computer desk pictured below.

We're selling the double size iron guest bed because we have a queen sized bed in the guest room. Gary touched up the paint and we set it up in the front yard to get a good photo.

Everyone has a bed in their front yard, don't they? I'll bet the neighbors are shaking their heads. I thought you'd get a kick out of seeing the bed in our front yard. Comments are welcome.

  1. Yard beds look better if they are sitting on concrete blocks.Try it.I'm sure it will sell in a flash.

  2. Your bed on the lawn reminds me of one I saw in a gardening magazine some years ago. A lady used the frame only and planted flowers inside the frame and created a "flower bed". It was very charming.

  3. Hi Dennis, thank, I think you're right and if I put a car seat on the front porch, I can guzzle my beer and wait for people to come by.

Hi June, thanks, yes I've seen those on garden tours before, very shabby chic for the garden.

  4. Linda, I suspect your bed won't be sitting on the lawn for long. It will find a new home with no trouble. I love your desk. It really is a blast from the past. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  5. I had a bed like this at one time. I thought of it recently, wondering if I should replace it with something similar. Here you are with an image...:) Synchronicity! I love it!

  6. Hi Mary, thanks, we actually took it down and put in the garage after the photo, but it was funny while it was set up.

Hi Teresa, thanks, I also had a bed just like this one when I went to college and I loved that bed, I had an old time quilt on it, back when I used to love antiques, now I'm more into the mid century modern more mimimalistic style of decorating, things change.

  10. Very cool desk and bed. The bed was probably worth more money than you charged, but at least the guy got a good one.

  11. Hi Marguerite, thanks, yes I think we priced it a little low but it was so awkward in the garage and there is so little room and it went to a good cause besides so it all worked out.

  12. Nice desk I also have one. Mine is not exactly like ,yours has two drawers on the sides mine has one and no middle drawer on mine. Yours is the first one I found after searching two days for a comparable one to mine. I've been told mine is worth $150 at least. No proof to that. I am looking to redo mine. Are you selling or redo-ing yours ? interested because of procedure to redo formica.
