Last night I set out to make something completely different and somehow whimsy crept in. I've been trying to keep myself from going off on tangents, but you know how I am. I'm hoping to stick with floral related pieces. There's a flower on the lid so I guess this one counts.
My hope springs eternal sculpture found a new home. This is the only photo I have and the robin's eggs don't even show. Maybe I should have my cube in the garage while I'm unloading the kiln. Thanks for reading and for your comments.

Hi Lori, thanks, she does have an attitude, what you want see is, she is leaning backwards in exclaim! Everything I make leans, I may need to get a geometry book from the library to see how to construct my cardboard forms without them leaning. Ha.

ReplyDeleteLinda - I love her attitude. Someone recently told me that wearing bifocals can alter your perspective -- because my stuff seems to always be slightly off center.

ReplyDeleteHi Judy, thanks, I wear those cheapy magnifying glasses, but I think this one leans because the form is larger on the bottom than the top and somehow my pattern isn't correct, the geometry of it all escapes me. I may look at the library and see if there is a book on how to make forms.

Judy... i agree about the lens thing! I have transition lenses and i also have the problem of thinking everything i makes looks a little off. now i measure it or use a level before making corrections just to be sure.. it stinks to get old!
ReplyDeleteLove her attitude, Linda. And the height...tall is 'in' these days. My first thought was a take on one of the fertility statues from Egyptian/Greco and so on times...think you should do more of these...they truly 'speak' - if that makes any sense.
