Shelly's Seafood in Homosassa
If we can, we go to Shelley's Seafood a local fish market in Homosassa once a week to get some fresh fish. Our fish is being filleted while we wait.
We try to support as many local small businesses as we can. The fish was brought in as we drove up. How much fresher can that be.
In the middle is hog fish, on the left and right are grouper.
Almost everything in the case is local Florida fare. Mussels from Canada and lobster from Costa Rica were flown in.
Here's the building which houses the fish market on the bank of the river.
This brown pelican was hanging around probably waiting for a handout. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

With all the news about fish fraud, how nice that you can actually see the fish being prepared. You know what you are are getting.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, when that first bite goes down, life is good.
ReplyDeleteHi Patti, thanks, I hadn't heard about fish fraud, maybe I don't want to know.
ReplyDeleteHi Kittie, thanks, yes the first bite, really delicious, we are fast becoming addicted to fresh seafood.
Wow, that is super-fresh fish! David and I might be dining at a seafood restaurant tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI do so envy you!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to live in that building.
ReplyDeleteLocation, location, location.

Hi Gigi, thanks, have a good dinner.
ReplyDeleteHi Rubye, thanks, I am envious of myself as well. Ha. we are lucky to live here for sure.
Hi Mary, thanks, isn't that just the best spot, all the boats going by and the birds floating and flying around, wonderful, we dream of living in building like thats someday.
Hi Michele, thanks, we don't like the grouper as much as everyone here likes it. My brother and I once went fishing by golden gate bridge in SF and we caught ling cod and halibut and it was the best fish I've ever eaten. Of course the bernaise sauce I made that day enhanced the flavor of the fish which I cooked over briquets outside. Yummy my mouth is watering for that meal even now.
