Dead Scorpion

Always tap your shoes before putting them on in the morning. We found this dead scorpion in the telephone book in the drawer.

Perhaps you remember this live one I found in my moon bowl in the garage when I was glazing?

This started out as a tall bucket, then turned into a tall flower brick with handles. It looks a bit like a human form. I almost put some eye attachments but had them as triangles and they didn't work so I took them off.

Some things work and others don't. I relooked at this black one I made; it works much better, the oval shape and the flare of the top. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  2. Hi Meredith, thanks, I just hope I don't get bit by one, Gary finds them dead in the pool every day and scoops them out.

  3. OK, that's too scary. I supposes that's one of the benefits of living in the Great White North? Of course, we have to suffer through months of winter...

  4. Hi Ronna, thanks, actually there aren't that many insects here, at least not as many as I expected. There were many more in Arkansas when we lived there which was farther north.

  6. Hi Michele, thanks, I find them interesting and really don't mind unless they are really poisonous to the point of serious harm to me. I had to study the when I became a landscape contractor so I learned a lot about them and learned to appreciate them for what they are and do, especially the pollinators.

  7. The scorpion brought me to your blog. I've already got stung twice this year. (Note to self shake out clothes, always wear flipflops and no clothes on the floor.

    LOVE the clay work!

  11. We may not have scorpions here in the north but we have deer ticks that can give you lyme disease--and it's a bugger!

  14. Hi Janet, thanks, I need to get some flipflops, I've been going barefoot outside and in the garage, not too smart.

Hi Barbara, thanks, that's the cassius basaltic clay, I need to make more of those flower brick forms.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, yes the ticks are terrible because of the lyme disease.

Hi Marguerite, thanks, yep better dead, not sure if they hurt if they bite but don't want to find out, thanks about the vase.

Hi Elna, thanks, I'm always dreaming up more things to make that's for sure.
