Here's some sushi grade tuna for sashimi we got from Shellys Seafood which was caught right here in Florida. Yes, sashimi is raw tuna and it tastes completely different than cooked or canned tuna. It's been years since I had jasmine white rice. All these years I've been eating brown, wild, and red rice for health reasons. Maybe it doesn't hurt to eat some sweet sticky white rice every now and then.
Some snow peas sauteed in a tad of butter and a pinch of sugar. A little wasabi and some soy for the rice. Oh so good.
Perhaps you recall my making these two fern plates, impressed with a real epiphyte fern. One wasn't dry so I fired it in the next load. They both had the same glaze applied and same firing schedule and were even fired in the same location in the kiln.
Here are the two plates, quite a bit different in their appearance. The first is more blue and shiny, the second is more gray and cream and less shiny. Both fossil fern plates are in my Etsy Pottery Shop. This post is part of Artists in Blogland, what's happening in the studio. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Love the plate!
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, thanks so much. Turned out that the brown chopstick looked good with the brown in the plate.

Don't you just love the way the jasmine rice smells when it's cooking? Between you and Tracey I may have to put seafood on tonight's pizza.

That plate is gorgeous! Love your shades of green. Gotta have white rice once in a while. Sorry, I don't eat raw (except veggies.)
ReplyDeleteI bought some Jasmine rice recently and have never tasted it. Since I have company coming, think I will try it. Thanks. I'll pass on the raw tuna however.
ReplyDeleteOh your raw pieces of tuna look so fresh!! Florida must be abundant with various kinds of fish!! You are absolutely right!! Your two fern plates are a perfect match with these sashimi. The color white is chick and so beautiful. I always use similar plates for sashimi!!

Hi Patti, the rice was good, and try tuna raw, you might like it. Ha.
Hi Sapphire, thanks, this tuna was the reddest and most beautiful sashimi I have ever seen. Florida waters are teaming with sea life for sure.
Hi Corrine, thanks so much. I thought maybe the ferns weren't showing up enough, but subtle is a good thing I think.
