Primitive Muse

Primitive Muse
13 3/4  x  3 3/4  x  2 3/4 inches

This one turned out muted and earthy which is what I was hoping for using the red slip. I switched back to my satin clear glaze over the top which turns the red slip a darker brown color and melts much better with my firing schedule. These circle towers seem as if they are looking out at me; I see some dark mystery within the eyes.

Up next will be some of what I call the disappointments of this firing. No cracks or breaks just glaze disappointments. Sometimes I have to let them settle a while before I can show them. Perhaps you'd be willing to give me some advice on the underglazed ones. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. it does look like it's looking at you... almost owl-like!

  2. In the picture it almost looks like eyes behind the circles, very faint. It's so interesting, I really like it.

  3. Hi Michele, thanks, some sort of animal but not sure I see the owl although they do have the biggest eyes.

Hi Lori, thanks, I didn't see any eyes behind, I'll have to go back and look, so glad you like it. Seems like the ones I just play with come out the best, as if they have a life of their own.

  4. Oh gee I do see those eyes, I'll go look at it in person and see if there dark patches of the slip in there purely by accident unless their is truly a muse trying to speak from within, one must believe in these things and then it makes them true I guess.

  5. I see eyes, a nose, a mouth AND a headdress. Wondeful - thank you.
