Sgraffito Jaunt

Here are a couple more platters I made, an owl and a sunflower. I guess I'm on a sgraffito jaunt right now. I think the branch structure is a little busy so I'll black out one of the branches below the owl's body. I may add some brown or gray to the tree branches.and revise the moon.

I never know if I should make the rim the same color as the background or leave it white. What do you think? Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  3. I like how you did the rim of the flower plate. If it was a too white it might compete with the design.
    Great job on that owl!

I hope it has warmed up in FL. I think you may have had colder weather than us!

  6. I am fond of them both & think they would work best as background/same color. ~Mary

  13. While I love the owl, I can see why you might delete the bottom branch - it is a joy as is though.
My vote would be to have the rim the same colour as the background, so that it becomes a part of the image.
I love them both and am looking forward to the next exciting installment.

  14. Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, I revised the owl some and got rid of one branch and painted the trunks gray, we shall see. Will have to fire soon, my cupboards are getting full of greenware.
