No Spring Chicken
Yesterday our guests left for other parts of Florida. We were sad to see them go but made plans to visit with them in the future. Turns out I'm no Spring chicken. I was worn out from all the partying and visiting and such. Gary and the cats were too. Seems none of us are used to so much excitement.
We spent the day napping, lounging around, and doing nothing. I did wash a few loads of cloths and heated up some leftovers for us to eat. Our cats Binky and Betty, who are about thirteen years old, barely got up all day long. Butter, who's about eight, got up after half the day but spent most of it gazing out the window. We're hoping we have a bit more energy today. Photo of the chicken was taken in my garden in California. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

Yes, I agree. Having company is exhausting, especially for me, an introvert.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard that expression for years. And, neithr am I.
ReplyDeleteYes!! Love company as they drive in the drive way-- love them a little more as they drive out.
ReplyDeleteThe best guests bring their own houses with them in the form of an RV.
Hope you and the kitties get rested up.
ReplyDeleteI know how you all feel. Our dogs get tired after guests leave. Have a good rest! I'm impressed that you seem to cook something really nice out of ordinary ingredients like peas and beans. Our cook, my husband, should read your blog, too! ; )
ReplyDeleteI agree that as we get older that guests, as much as we love to have them, interrupt our routine and tire us out. It takes me a few days to recover as well.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you have a good time.
LOL..I am so glad I read your post today. I do the same thing...now I feel normal. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes had to chuckle. I don't even think my Spring chickens feel like Spring chickens in this crazy cold New England weather here at the farm. Enjoyed racing the post and hearing the band :)
ReplyDeleteOops "reading the post" I meant to say , oh my no racing here ...as a matter of fact time for a nap I see lol
DeleteI have always liked (and understood) the phrase 'visitors and fish smell after three days'. It doesn't matter how pleased I am to see people, I am always happy to see them go and to be able to resume my mundane (and peaceful) life.
ReplyDeleteYes it goes a long way when you have visitors but oh so fun.
ReplyDeleteHugs
You enjoy the guest, you should enjoy the rest.
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi, thanks, same for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, I seem to keep some of those expressions alive here some are so appropriate I think.
Hi Patti, thanks, oh yes we are working on getting our own rolling home in the form of an RV.
Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, we are all resting and resting. Ha.
Hi Midori, thanks, I think any plain ingredient can be made to sing with the right additions especially some spices or herbs from the garden.
Hi Michele, thanks, I guess that it is the interruption of routine that we haven't had for a while.
Hi Dee, thanks, even the oddest things are normal I think, Ha.
Hi Willow, thanks, been racing around here too, lol, bet the chickens are really cold poor things.
Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, well they all took showers here, Ha, yes my mundane and peaceful life.
Hi Elna, thanks, it was really fun but exhausting none the less.
Hi Lori, thanks, I am enjoying the rest for sure.
