Here are the square trays all fired up. I half expected the corner appendages to pop off but they didn't amazingly. These have a satin clear glaze over the top. That glaze has a little sheen to it but it's not overly shiny.
A couple of them I had to fill with slip at the edge but the patch job did the trick. These flora and fauna trays are definitely functional but they'd also look good gracing a kitchen counter, placed in a bookcase, or hung on the wall. They're about nine inches square and one inch deep.
I like the creamy white background on these trays better than the solid background on the one below. I'm still trying to think of a handle that might look good on these colorful square trays. I just remembered I could have photographed these with a hidden weight behind the tray to prop them up because I think the plate holder is a bit distracting, next time.
Here's the first square tray I made without the cut out corners. I'd like to make some rectangular shaped trays next time. I've also made more bells; I'll show you those tomorrow. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
These would be nice on a dresser/dressing table to catch jewelry or hold a nice bottle of perfume. Handles would look great... look forward to seeing you do some.
ReplyDeleteI like the bird tray which looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi, thanks, I need to make more birds and some animals in the trays.
DeleteHi Michele, thanks, that's a use I forgot to mention, good thinking. back to the studio, ha
ReplyDeleteLove the bird tray. They are all lovely though, they will show well!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, hoping to get a bunch of stock made.
DeleteLinda, your trays are very nice... all of them, but I like the second one best. You say they are only 2' deep. Couldn't you make them maybe 4' deep and they could be used for casseroles?... just a thought. I really like pretty casserole dishes and pie plates.
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, oh I try to make some deeper ones next time, thanks for the suggestion.
DeleteThis is so funny...I like them all, but really like the bottom one. I've been pondering "subjective" so this is very interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Turquoisemoon, thanks, see that is why I make different ones as everyone has a different favorite. Ha.
DeleteI'm still most fond of the thistle. Everyone seems drawn to different images.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, thanks, that is so true, I can't tell you how many times I didn't like a piece and took it to a sale and that was the first piece someone bought, lol.
DeleteOoooh. And ahhh.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, you are so funny.
ReplyDeleteThose look great.
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, thanks, I hope they fire up ok.
DeleteI like the white, or off white, backgrounds; they make the colors pop!
ReplyDeleteIt's not yellow, but for some reason the bird reminds me of a song from my younger days. "Yellow bird, high in a banana tree...."
Hi Suzi, thanks, is that a Jamaican song?
