OK, you thought I was too neat so I decided to show you a real rat's nest. This is the back porch outside my studio. Some of the boxes are boxed pottery, kilns, supplies, and some construction excesses at the very end. Once we decided to redo the other basement room we had to clear out that room so everything had to go out here too. We can actually squeeze by but barely. It looks like a hoarder's home doesn't it. Now we have to find a place for all this stuff. Luckily the trash to treasures sale starts this Friday so we'll start selling a few items there.
Here's the dusty shelf I was telling you about. See the word dirty that Gary wrote in the dust. You might wonder why someone with medical bills they can't pay all at once decided to improve the basement room. We had a method to our madness we decided if one of us couldn't make it upstairs, (like when I hurt my knee) then we could put a bed in the downstairs room and stay there till we got better.
If one of us died and we had to sell the house since we couldn't afford to stay here, then the extra square footage would improve our chances of selling our home quickly. When you get to a certain age these are the things that must be thought of. Planning for old age or what to do if unexpected illness or death befalls you. If you didn't read the previous post, please check it out, I made a video of the bells for you to hear. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
HAHA! You are one of us! One of these days I will clean out our basement and garage. It's amazing how much "stuff" we can accumulate in our lives and most of it is just "junk". Someday we plan on downsizing to smaller house with very little land and a big workshop! Well, at least it's a dream of mine!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, thanks, we are constantly trying to downsize but unfortunately this house just doesn't have enough workshop space but does have enough house space, a real conundrum for us.
DeleteHello Linda,
ReplyDeleteThe idea of making changes around the house always holds an appeal but, as soon as the work begins, we wish that we had not begun. It is precisely this kind of juggling of 'stuff' from room to room that is so unsettling and usually results in prevarication rather than action.
Your bells make a lovely sound. We can imagine them hanging somewhere to catch the breeze......
Hi Jane and Lance, thanks, Gary was just saying he just wanted to paint the basement and garage and look where it led us to a whole remodel project which once we started many times we thought why did we do this.
DeleteI can't wait to get the rest of the bells fired and hang them alll in a row so I can hear them and see them in a group. As soon as I get that back porch cleaned up I can fire the kiln, soon hopefully.
Your "rats nest" is mild compared to what I am dealing with now! We have such little space with no closets in this log cabin.
ReplyDeleteWhen we purchased our new home, the fact that it is a ranch was a bonus. Let's face it... we aren't getting any younger.
Hi Michele, thanks, oh I know you must have more than one rat's nest, ranchers are really the best kind of home for all ages, one of these days we may have to move again, I fear that.
ReplyDeleteYou will be organized in the end. A bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, yes a bit at a time, so much to organize though, guess it could be worse.
ReplyDeleteMy neat is nowhere as neat as yours is, Linda! Your untidy is very neat. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd after playing your bell clip, all the cows have come home; which is odd, because until then I didn't have any cows!!! :)
Hi Lee, thanks, as long as the sheep and goats don't come I think you'll be ok. ha.
