Goat Bells, Pendulums, & Plumb Bobs

My search for just the right clapper for my ceramic bells is taking me in many directions. I found goat bells which have replacement clappers available. But are they the right size and weight?

Then I thought of pendulums. Many are used in dousing. But I'm not looking for water, the West is though.

What about the pendulums used in clocks. Hum, clock parts are probably expensive.

A plumb bob is like a pendulum. Or perhaps I can contact a metalsmith or blacksmith and have them make a supply of clappers for me. So much research to do searching for just the right clapper. One that sounds wonderful and is aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hi Linda. I thought I posted this the other day but I don't see it. Lamp finial with an eye bolt in it.

    1. Hi Dennis, thanks, you mentioned that on fb, and tomorrow I'm going to take a trip to the hardware store to see what they have for finials, have to work at the gallery today and yesterday I had to get my hair cut.

  2. Hi Linda, you have to love the way our clay takes us off in other directions... I have a friend who makes bells in the shape of a cat head that has a tail shaped clanger also made of clay.. just a thought..

    1. Hi Anna, thanks, I am going to try the clay clappers as well to see how they sound, was just thinking that clay against clay may tend to break but then again maybe not, will try them all to see how they sound.

  4. I liked the idea that Dennis had on FB (I think it was Dennis) to spray paint the washers for a weathered look.
You will probably have fun in the hardware store exploring all kinds of ideas.

    1. Hi Michele, thanks, the only thing about the washers is that they hang horizontally and they don't look like clappers.
