Left over sheetrock or wallboard makes great pottery drying boards. All you need is the board, a cutting knife and some duct tape. In this case I used white duct tape. Make sure you do this project outside away from your clay. Any plaster that gets into clay will cause it to explode in the kiln.
Score one side of the sheetrock with your knife.
Let one side extend over the table. Hit the side extending over the table. The sheetrock drops in half right on the cutting line.
Flip the board over and cut the other side with the knife.
Ooh so clever... There's so many little tricks to the trade out there. I just learned a few in the photography department. hmmmm...still learning.
ReplyDeleteHi Turquoisemoon, thanks, yes we didn't have to throw away all the cut offs and could put them to good use.
ReplyDeletea great way to use up the odds and ends!
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, yes, takes a bit of time but they last a long time.
DeleteYes...great use of sheetrock. And our community studio has some that have been well used. They don't take too well to wiping with a wet sponge however...paper covering only lasts so long. Thanks for sharing a good tip!
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, thanks, mine seem to be ok but I wring out my sponge really well before wiping.
DeleteGood luck on the sales this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your use of the 'left-overs'.
Hi Sue, thanks, potters seem to use up all the scraps. Ha.
