Prototypes

Seems like eons ago that I made these two prototypes. They are vases with stylized arrangements (read ceramic flowers).
These photos aren't the greatest because the lighting in the studio makes them subdued. But you get the idea of what I intended from their shape. I never really did anything with them but I might re-explore the idea behind them. How about you, do you have prototypes in your studio waiting to be developed? I have lots of them and many more in my brain floating around. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  3. I think it goes with the territory! I have many prototypes on shelves and notebooks. If you are thinking of house (studio) cleaning my advice is don't! Every time I have gotten rid of something, I have needed it within a year!

    1. Hi Suzi, thanks, I have regretted smashing some pieces and I am sorry I had to sell my raku kiln but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

  4. I have a yoga skirt on the shelf that I don't have the nerve to try out with the public.

  5. Prototypes are a jumping off place to something new and exciting. I just need to let go of some of mine which are definitely not worth showing others!

  6. I usually work with maquettes to develop a piece which, in a way, is a prototype (I keep wanting to type "prontotype" :) Happy New Year!

  7. I think that if every you found that you had NO prototypes in your head or on your shelves it would be time to worry.

    1. Hi Michele, thanks, most of my prototypes aren't good enough to sell but these two actually are, but in my mind I think they need to be a little less linear and slightly wider so I keep them around. there are some pieces I wish I had never smashed but we can't keep them all can we.

  9. Happy New Year to you Linda! :-)
I have some prototypes gathering dust in dim corners of my studio and even more in my head, and lots and lots on scraps of paper that I tend to lose!
