At the beginning of summer we noticed a sale on bulbs, we got some asiatic lilies and some gladiola. Today we noticed the first bloom on this lily. The lily plants are really short since we planted them late. I suspect next year they will make up for their lowly stature. But this bloom is full size even if there is only one. If you use Asiatic lilies in floral arrangements be careful of the pollen it stains fabric and is hard to remove. Most florists remove those parts from the lily before using them in arrangements.
Since Gary planted these he is claiming these as his flowers. The gladiola have lots of green but no blooms so far. They are planted in the area I take care of. But I am sure when they bloom Gary will claim them his success as well since he planted them. Ha. We shall see. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
You are so right about the stamens and their staining capacity,.
ReplyDeleteLove the lily though.
Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, can't wait for the others to bloom.
