Just when I thought things were going along great. I thought my knee was back to normal and then last night it started acting up. I am still paying off the emergency room bill from the original injury from more than a year ago. This morning it was really bad so I got an ice pack. As I was sitting in bed with the ice pack I noticed one of the baguette cut diamonds in my wedding ring is missing. Thirty one years and now one is gone. No telling where it is, probably down the drain.
My fingers are fatter than they used to be so I'll have to use the string method to get the ring off. I'm afraid if I wear the ring more of the diamonds will fall out. And you know diamonds are expensive and there's no way I can afford to replace one let alone more. Just when I thought all was going well. These days the ups are more mellow and the lows are much too low. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
I hope that it turns up somewhere, Linda!

ReplyDeleteHi Keith, thanks, I don't even think there is any reason to look it's too small to even see. Then I tried the string trick and my finger turned blue so I had to stop. ugh.
ReplyDeleteThat stinks! It may turn up.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, it is so small I am not sure I would even see it but perhaps, there is always hope.
DeleteSorry to hear about your knee and your ring. My sister lost her diamond in her ring and when all methods to get her ring off her finger failed, the jeweler told her to go to the fire dept. because they had a tool that could cut it off, so she did, and they did. Hope you don't have to have that done, but just in case.
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy, thanks, I saw on the internet that certain jewelers have a special tool to remove the ring, I will be calling around.
DeleteI know this isn't the ideal solution, but it could be an alternative. Since the missing diamond is the center stone, what if you had it replaced with a less expensive stone, in a color that you love?
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, that's a good idea. Will be a while before I get around to it.
DeleteI am so sorry. Sometimes it doesn't seem that you can take a trick.
ReplyDeleteHi Elephant's Child, thanks, yes you are so right, sometime stuff is a bit much.
DeleteMy mom had to have one of her rings cut off. I have never seen that *string* method. It certainly is interesting. And I too lost the diamond out of my engagement ring years ago. It probably got lost in the files at the hospital where I worked. Good luck finding yours!
ReplyDeletesorry about the stone and your knee.. I hope the little diamond turns up.. I guess the fire dept might be a cheaper way of getting it cut off but a jeweller would probably be gentler on the ring.
ReplyDeleteSo sad that you lost a stone; the ring must hold so many memories for you. I assume you have tried soap and all.
ReplyDeleteKnees are certainly a nuisance; toes crossed that yours is better soon.
I lost a diamond in my dog pendant, too, the day I bought it. I guess it wasn't glued in right.
ReplyDeleteDamn! How frustrating and saddening for you. Grrrrr!
