Lack of that Ring

Somewhere in this straight sided bowl is a miniature crack. How do I know? When I tap the side there isn't that melodious ring to signify a vitrified and solid piece. There's a lack that ring. Today I'll test it with some water. If it holds I can use it to float flowers. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Most of our crockery is pottery, and we use that test to determine if it's still safe for eating from.

  3. If it doesn't ring true...it will hold fruit, or crackers or artificial flowers...or just stand proudly as it is, unfilled! :)

  4. The most annoying flaw: the one you know is there but can't find. Have you tried soaking it in water to make the crack visible>

    1. Hi Suzi, thanks, haven't tried that yet I suspect it is at the join of the side to the bottom near one of the four sprigs on the side.
