The first sugar snap peas are harvested.
We're eating them fresh off the vine.
Gary's grandmother used to grow them
and he'd eat them raw as we are now.
Today while I was harvesting the peas
a hummingbird sipped from the blossoms.
There are so many benefits to growing
plants in your garden.
The best way to have them...sitting on your haunches, eating them straight off the vine! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, thanks, mine are so tall I can't sit to eat them.
DeleteRaw fruit and vegies are almost always the best (excepting things like potatoes).
ReplyDeleteA hummingbird? Oooh.
Hi Sue, thanks, yes the hummingbirds have several plants here they love, especially the lantana.
Deleteyummy and they stand out well on your platter... I would love to see a humming bird.. we only have one of its relatives here in Aus - they are called a Sunbird
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, thanks, oh I didn't know that Australia doesn't have hummingbirds. Sunbird I'll have to look that one up.
DeleteLinda, my SIL grows these sugar snap peas also. They are delicious. We do eat them off the vine, but I prefer them just gently saute'd in a little butter.
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, I have sauteed them in butter in the past with store bought, and I add just a pinch of sugar to enhance their flavor, absolutely delicious; today I added them to my shrimp stir fry with peppers, mushrooms, celery and the snap peas.
