Late this afternoon we had four hungry visitors. The deer looking up in the foreground could hear me tiptoeing across the deck and was on alert.
All day long we've had snow flurries and the temperature hasn't risen above 32 F. Spring has arrived with a mini cold snap. My strawberries are covered with a tarp; I hope to remove the tarp tomorrow; supposedly it will warm up again. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Glad they can't eat the strawberries too!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, thank goodness for that.
DeleteThe deer are seeking any forage now. They have taken over the golf course.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, that's why I was tiptoeing so I didn't scare them. That patch of lawn is above our leach field so it's nice and green.
DeleteWinter is a hungry time for so many wild animals.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, yes it was so cold all day sometimes I feel so sorry for the animals and am amazed at the rigors of cold they can survive.
DeleteAhhh...Bambi and his mates came to visit. Where was Thumper? Hiding around the corner, I guess! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, thanks yes one of the doe looked like she was pregnant, will see bambi's very soon.
DeleteI like to see the deer when they come by the neighborhoods in the hill country. But I know the neighbors don't like them eating their plants. One of my daughter's neighbors would feed them from her hand.
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, the deer can become quite territorial and can actually kill a dog with their hooves, best not to feed them and I've heard that corn they give them isn't good for them any way.
