Spring Plantings & a Frittata

This week I planted cold hardy leaf and red romaine lettuce, and baby spinach in raised bins.
I also planted cilantro and dill and I'll plant more cilantro in pots. I cover them with a sheet overnight if the temps dip below freezing. I will also be planting some kohlrabi and kale.
The other day I made a vegetable and cheese frittata for dinner because I had an abundance of eggs and fresh vegetables which needed to be used. I sauted the vegetables in advance and added them to the mixture. I added shredded cheddar cheese on top. Next time I'll add the cheese and vegetables to the middle. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  2. Hi Suzi, thanks, I will check it out, last year was bad, this year so far good, but we can still get a cold snap up till 4/30 or so, so I am taking a risk.

  3. Oh that looks yummy. I forgot how I liked to pick fresh herbs from pots on my porch, so will look for some. Most of my outside plants I let die this winter (in pots) so am ready to think about new ones!

  4. Hi Barbara, thanks, I am planning on using my plants for more perennials or herbs because I am tired of replanting them each year. One pot this summer I added a hosta to and it is coming back up now, I've added a yarrow to another which is also hardy; the others will get basil or cilantro and I can go out and pick them. The rabbit will probably eat the cilantro so I will now put it in pots. Good luck with your plantings.

  5. Love seeing your plantings... and love most of what you planted except for the cilantro. It's a taste I can't stand... supposedly some with cilantro aversion say it tastes like soap, but for me it tastes like gasoline smells or something that one shouldn't have in their mouth. I've been wanting to plant some trailing rosemary in my hanging baskets out front, but haven't been able to find any. I can find the upright type, but not the trailing or creeping type.

  6. Hi Rian, thanks, Gary used to hate cilantro too but then all of a sudden he liked it, it's an acquired taste. In California it was hard to find the upright rosemary and here it's the opposite, I'd like some of the trailing too but have never seen it here. I could get it mailorder but for just a few plants ?

  7. I love the look of your garden Linda, and it must be very rewarding to use your own herbs and veggies instead of going tot he store. The frittata looks delicious.

  8. Hi Denise, thanks, I get a lot of pleasure seeing the plants mature and also sharing them with my neighbors if they ripen or mature all at once.
