Cedar Bluebird House

(image borrowed the net)
To celebrate the holidays Gary and  I got each other a cedar bluebird house at the last farmers market. Gary drilled some vent holes in the sides to let hot air escape. I'll put some linseed oil on the outside of them and then we plan to hang them up. Bluebirds eat lots of insects so they are good to have around. Not to mention how lovely they are with the blue feathers. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Birdhouses are wonderful. We have several hanging around. My SIL turns wood and makes them. And I bought a darling one made out of a hollowed out coconut in Hawaii!

    1. Hi Rian, thanks, I just love to see the bluebirds and now that we don't have an outdoor cat I am encouraging the birds here.

    1. Hi Sue, thanks, apparently bluebirds like the hollow of trees and such but are subject to predators but with the birdhouses the young are much safer

  3. Two very nice gifts. No bluebirds in Hawaii, though.

    1. Hi Lee, thanks, lots of times birds will come back to the same nest and these can be clean out for the next season.
