Well I did it, I made soup with asparagus ends.
I steamed the asparagus ends till they were real soft.
It didn't take as long as I thought it would for them to soften.

Next I sauteed some chopped green onions in oil and butter.
I added some chopped celery and carrots.
I added the asparagus ends into the mixture with 2 cups water
added salt, pepper, Spanish tarragon, one minced garlic clove,
a dash of worchestershire sauce, dab of agave syrup
and let the whole mixture cook a good long while.
I added more water if mixture got too dry.
I refrigerated the mixture over night and
the next day I blended the soup in my blender.
The soup was quite delicious; sorry no photos of finished soup.
There were a couple of pieces that were pithy but
most of the mixture became quite smooth.
Next time I'll cut a bit off the very ends
which I assume would be the toughest part.
