Essentially we've run out of time so we've chosen, at least temporarily, a hybrid trailer to live in for the next several months. After looking hither and yon over the past month for a trailer which didn't leak or wasn't worn out, we finally found an acceptable one. We got the trailer home late last night and today Gary re-checked everything to make sure it worked. Heat, air, stove, oven, refrigerator (electric and propane), water systems, plumbing. It all did, thank goodness.
Here is the floor plan of the trailer (the bathroom configuration is slightly different than the one shown).. It's a used trailer, a 2003 Salem made by Forest River, but it looks almost new inside and out. The foot print while moving down the road is 19 feet. Yep we are going from a 1780 square foot home to a 152 square foot trailer to live in. Gary and I and three cats. When we stop there are two double beds that can be tipped out. I am sure the cats are going to love the beds. Ha. The tip out beds are what makes this a hybrid trailer, our hybrid home very soon.
It's going to be cramped to say the least. In the past we've always had motorhomes and there was much more room in those.
Previous motorhomes had almost twice as much room as this trailer. This time Gary's truck will be towing the trailer. We opted for a truck and trailer this time. We thought in the event of needing to sell either one of them in the future it would be easier to sell them separately rather than a more costly motorhome.
There's a bathroom. There's even a tub with a shower. There's heat and air conditioning. Only thing is the cats will be in the trailer when we are traveling down the road and in the motorhomes we could always see them while we were traveling. But we learned they slept on the bed most of the time while we were moving so hopefully they'll be ok. We're going to try and rig up some type of air conditioning which will run for them while we're traveling. Still working on that plan. Motorhomes have generators which enable the heat or air to run while traveling.
I don't think I'll be making anything in clay in this trailer. I'll probably take some acrylic paint and do some sketching and painting. Perhaps I''ll stop at clay studios along the way and make a few pieces and leave them to be fired and glazed by others. Now we really have to pare down to bare necessities to take with us.
