Oh Deer, Dear Dears

Sometimes things happen for a reason. Sometimes I know the reason right away and sometimes I know days or months down the road. Many times this has happened to me; I am pleasantly surprised; always thankful to learn the reason sooner or later. The other day Gary and I were driving in a residential neighborhood driving by a home and I saw two deer in the side yard. I stopped to get a good look at them because the deer here in South Carolina are much larger than the ones we saw in California. Gary said you can't stop in the middle of the road. I said it's a dead end street and there isn't any one coming behind me; besides I want to take a photo. As I was taking the photo I noticed the two deer, two does, were looking intently at me.

I felt there was a clue for me but I didn't quite know what it was. Several cars came down the street from the opposite direction but none came up behind me so I stayed in my car and kept looking. It was as if the deer were trying to tell me something. What was it?  I hadn't a clue but I stayed there and waited. I knew Gary was getting impatient and thinking I was foolish for stopping in the middle of the road, but I just couldn't bring myself to drive on.

All of a sudden from the opposite side of the road out of the woods a fawn jumped in from of my car and ran across the street towards the two deer standing in the side yard. That's what the deer were trying to tell me. I was about to drive on but the adult deer were still looking at me. Hum, I said to myself. I didn't see any more deer in the woods. But next thing you know a doe jumped out of the woods and another fawn followed shortly thereafter. Then another doe and two fawns. Then another doe. I saw a car coming the opposite direction so I flashed my lights and they slowed down.  The car drove slowly up and we exchanged pleasantries about seeing the herd of deer. When they all got to the other side, they started to browse in the grass and I knew that's all the deer that would come out of the woods. How about you? Do you ever get clues and then learn why later on?

There's a number of folks in the RV park we're staying in who are down on their luck. One is a family of five/six living an RV. A mother and her four children and two dogs, and father part time. Several times Gary and I have complained to ourselves about being crowded in our motorhome which is almost twice as large as theirs. I'm not sure how a woman, four children, and two dogs can live in that size motorhome without going stark raving mad. Then again I know how they do it, they do what they have to do. They make do with what they have. What else can they do?

Apparently the mother and father are getting a divorce and it's hard on the children. Yesterday the father came to visit and the mother and father had a heated argument to say the least. The police ended up coming and after questioning them both the police had each parent sign some papers, the father left and the mother stayed with the children. Sadly each child went up and hugged their father before he left.

Each of the children has a bicycle outside the motorhome and they're clean and well fed. There are other children in the park for them to play with and there's a park play ground. A little before seven this morning all the children in the park were waiting at the park office for the school bus. Another mother waited with them till the bus arrived. I've been thinking a lot about the families and children here, the dear dears. Then my mind wanders to all the other dear dears in the world who've fallen on hard times, making do. So many dear dears in the world. I'm thinking I'm in this park for a reason I just don't know what the reason is yet.

Remember I told you my photos didn't turn out; I've borrowed these photos from the net for illustration purposes. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
