Pollards Mill Newport NH

Yesterday we arrived (without incident or mishaps) at our destination in Newport, New Hampshire. Gary's grandparent's settled in Newport in the early 1900s after immigrating from Finland. Gary's cousin, Jack, and Jack's wife, Gale, still live on some of the original property settled by their ancestors. After a tour of Gary's cousin's home Jack gave us a short tour of the town.

One of the stops we made was the Pollards Mill site. The grist mill was torn down in 1919, so I've posted a photo, first photo, from a postcard taken at that time. Gary's father learned how to swim in the South Branch of the Sugar River right at this same spot. Stay tuned for more sites and sounds of this area. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
