Plantain with Chipotle Dipping Sauce

For a light snack I sliced a plantain and fried the slices in olive oil. When soft and lightly browned I removed them with a slotted spoon and drained them on a paper towel. Then I squeezed a little lime juice over them. I mixed a small amount of mayonnaise with a dash of chipotle hot sauce and drizzled it over the plantains.

This is quick and easy to make. I served the plantains on one of my leaf dishes. My leaf dishes are made with food safe glazes and are microwave and dishwasher friendly. Leaf dishes are available in different colors in my Etsy Shop. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. beautiful! and your leaf plates are perfect for serving small dishes.

  2. Plantains are one of my favorite foods, and they looks so good on that plate. Nice glaze, it loos so soft.

  3. I have always been confused over the
nature of plantain. When making a meal, does it fit the category of vegetable, starch or protein?

  4. A very nice leaf and I love the color. Have a great day.

  5. Oooh my...that sounds so good! And served on one of your leaf plates, yummy...

  6. I'll bet my daughter knows a plantain from a banana and I'm going to ask her to do this for me for luch some time. Yours look great.

  7. I really love your leaf dishes - the earthy tones are lovely!!

  8. Hi Michele, thanks, I didn't think of using these for food but they work nicely since they curve up a bit on all the edges.

Hi Lori, thanks, that's the glaze that either is shiny and more blue or this matt color, different ever time.

Hi Ms. Sparrow, thanks, I think it fits in any category and is even served as a dessert sometimes.

Hi Elna, thanks, the color kind of defies description, not really blue, but not cream either.

Hi Turquoisemoon, thanks, it was so easy to make too.

Hi Joanne, thanks, I never thought of eating the plantains till moving here to Florida, they are plentiful probably due to large population of Cubans.

Hi Julia, thanks so much, each one is different too since I make them with real leaves.
