Just finished
Swamplandia! How could I resist that
alligator?
Here's a serving bowl out the depths of the
swamps. I need to sand the inside of the handles, will I break them? Seems like something like that always happens with greenware. But greenware is easier to sand than bisque. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
nice serving bowl! i lightly sand all my greenware with a green scotchbrite scrubbie before bisque firing... once in awhile i break something but it's rare.
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, I am wondering what happened to my previous commnt, hope you're having a nice visit up there.
ReplyDeleteChecked out that book. The cover put me off but think I might like it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Patti, thanks, the first half is better than the second half, but it's definitely about life in living in the Florida everglades.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the illustration of the book cover I thought it would be something from the 1950's, lol.
ReplyDeleteI guess you would be careful of dust when sanding but for your readers, best to wear a mask and do it outside. I prefer to smooth edges while the clay is still damp.
Hi Anna, thanks, normally I try to smooth before it dries, but with the slip then I sometimes mess it up. I paint my slip when the clay is wet then I slump my bowl. Gary is reading the book now and he said he likes it. A few of the reviews talk about it getting disjointed towards the middle, but it was enjoyable to read.
ReplyDeleteSwamplandia looks like a fun read - love that alligator! Your bowl is gorgeous -- perfect colors...
ReplyDeleteReturned from holiday and came down with strep throat - slowly getting back into the groove -
Hi Kittie, thanks so much. Don't you just hate that, getting ill right after vacation, glad you're doing better.
