Crab Cake

Here's one of my appetizer, tapas, or sushi dishes with a crab cake on it. To the crab mixture I added an egg, some gluten free flour, a few spices, and mixed gently. Next I coated the formed crab cake with hand ground corn meal and sauteed it. After I browned one side I topped it with a dash of blue cheese. These dishes are perfect for a light snack or can be used as a soap dish, a candle dish, or you name it dish.

They stack nicely in the cabinet and would be fun to have in lots of different colors for a party. I've listed a few of them in my Etsy Pottery Shop, so head on over if you're looking for a hand made dish. In other news, I got woke up by the smoke alarm very early. It was false alarm, I think it needs new batteries, thank goodness. Of course I couldn't go back to sleep. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. That crab cake is to die for. Can't resist those things. The photo was taken in Austria, where we visited last year. I was struggling to get my header organized, pulled a pic at random to see, liked this one and kept it there.

How frightening is a false alarm in the night. Yikes.

  5. Why that looked like a raisin muffin with butter on it I have no idea. Maybe wishful thinking on my part. ~Mary

  6. Hi Kittie, thanks, my crab cakes still aren't as good as I've had them still working on my recipe. That photo I could just walk into the photo and stay there for a week or two.

Hi Suzi, thanks, it is nice to have stacking plates I can fit a lot of them in a cabinet and at a potluck they would fit on the table too.

Hi Barbara, thanks, I've been working on dishes that stack. In the past I always made freeform pieces but I am seeing the advantage of these types.

Hi Patti, thanks, that darn smoke alarm is a pain in the neck, we got new ones and they still do that maybe it's the humidity?

Hi Mary, thanks, you know these would be great little breakfast plates too just right for a muffin or perhaps some cookies. Ha.

  7. Hi Linda,
Those crab cakes Look yummy, even though I don't eat shell fish.

I saw your waffle cone cups in your homemade ice cream blog. I think you did great. Consider maybe throwing the parfait base and make it slightly wider for stability. This time of year it could be a big seller. My Daughter Tessa's guilt free Sundae recipe served in my ice cream cone bowls are in my blog post today.

  8. Hi Cindy, thanks, I don't even have a wheel, ha. I can pinch them though. You ice cream cone dishes are wonderful, wish I had seen them before I my post I would have linked to your etsy site. I saw your daughter's recipe and after adding up all the ingredients of the ice cream I made I really need to switch to yogurt. Ha

  10. Now I'm hungry for a crab cake and it's almost midnight! :) Love these dishes! They are lovely and I wish that they came in the chili pepper colors, (red, yellow, green, and orange) to match my kitchen.
