Several windows are missing in the house above but as we drove by someone was mowing the grass around the home. I was sad to see the house deteriorating. We're now looking in the North Georgia mountains in our search for a new home. We started looking in the Clarkesville, Cleveland, Helen, and Sautee Nacoochee areas but have branched out to a slightly higher elevation. I must say we've become smitten with the Blairsville, Blue Ridge, and Young Harris areas. The mountain views and vistas are spectacular.
Speaking of branches, several real estate listings mentioned a branch on the property. We learned that's a local word for a small stream. The Fall leaves are really starting to turn; my photos don't do the vistas we've been seeing any justice. I plan to set aside a day to try and capture some of the wondrous colors we've been seeing to show you.
In the meantime check out this video, there are forest, stream and mountains views, shopping, art, and culture. There's even a potter demonstrating. Yeah!
We're hoping to have a new home before Thanksgiving and with any luck we may just be able to manage it. Yesterday we found a couple of potentials, so please keep your fingers crossed for us. Gary and the cats and I really want to settle down again. It's really hard work and time consuming looking for a new home. Perhaps we're a bit picky but Gary says we should find a place we can stay for a good long while. These last three photos are in an RV campground we stopped by, hoping to get closer to our search area.
Most of our married life we have lived in the mountains and for some reason we're now drawn back to those types of locations. I really enjoyed living in Florida but I now find it curious that I don't miss living there as much as I thought I would. I miss the fresh seafood and the trips to the rivers and beaches but I don't miss living there. Stay tuned for more photos and news about our search coming up real soon. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
One of the survey points on our old family land in Tn. is "a stake in the branch". You gotta know the lingo.
ReplyDeleteToes crossed that all goes well. Great video!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you're being "picky" because that means you'll be more satisfied where you land...and I wish it to be a lovely home for you and Gary and cats!
ReplyDeleteLooks like beautiful country, no wonder you are smitten! Wishing you best of luck in finding the perfect home.
ReplyDeleteIt's exciting to hunt for a new home no matter where. Good luck to you and Gary.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, when a friend who lives in Coker Creek Tennessee was to be married, her daddy had to build a bridge across the branch in order to walk her over to be married in the lawn on the other side.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful country. Good luck.
Don't worry too much about being picky. It took me 2 years to find a place! lol Beautiful area and I hope you find the perfect place soon. Good luck, cher!
ReplyDeleteFingers and toes crossed for you. And that does look like a stunningly beautiful area.

That is a beautiful area of Georgia. Be careful of motorcycle riders on the fun, twisty roads.
ReplyDeleteElijay is really pretty too. It might be apple festival there soon so it would be fun for you to visit there anyway. I think Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter may still have a place up there.
Well, you are certainly getting a good look at the country while you search!

ReplyDeleteCertainly looks like a beautiful place with all the trees and hills. The house in your first photo is amazing, but I would hate to have to climb up so high to repair the roof! I enjoyed looking at the video too. It is always interesting to do some "armchair travelling" to the other side of the world, and videos do bring things alive somehow!
ReplyDeleteHi Dennis, thanks, good to the lingo for sure, in Arkansas we had witness trees.
