Acorns and Leaves

This batch of ornaments turned out fine. I'll use jute thread to string these with. Sometimes I use ribbon.

This maple leaf is easier to pick up than the ones falling on our driveway. Gary has his work cut out for him every day 'cause he has to blow the leaves so they don't stick to the driveway. If they do it gets slick when it rains and our driveway is steep.

Ever hear of a blue oak leaf? Me either. Somehow I chose the wrong glaze color for these. Ha.

The frosty snowman looks a bit icy with the addition of the cobalt.

The xmas trees are pale green this time.

I have these pieces of plywood I use to unload lots of small items from the kiln. If they are still warm the wood helps diffuse the heat.

There are a couple of star pendants and a teddy bear in this batch. I'll string the pendants with faux leather.  I got the wood for the ornament display tree I want to build; I'll work on that today. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  4. the ornaments look great! I really like how the snowman looks with the cobalt.
I wish someone would come and take our leaves away. This is a busy time of year for us and they are starting to pile up.

  5. I intended to mention, if the base of the tree is larger it will be more sturdy. You might make it big enough to lay more ornaments about on the bottom for more stability.

  7. I really like the acorn ornament. And I would probably pick the blue leaf over the maple one, since I decorate more in silver, blue and white. I'd be curios to see how they sell there.

  8. Hi Michele, thanks, yes the leaves are nicer in the trees than on the ground only consolation is they are free fertilizer.

Hi Joanne, thanks, great idea about the tree display, will probably get to it in a few days as we started a stone patio. Ha.

Hi Sue, thanks, yes more fun is always needed.

Hi Barbara, thanks, the acorn was fun to make with all the impressions on the top part, these turned out nicer than I expected. I have a white tree with turquoise and silver ornaments. Ha.
