Windowsill Pots - Mini Planters

You know how I keep saying these are windowsill pots. Gary and I both love succulents so I decided to splurge on a few to show you how they look in  my mini planters.

Here are the mini planters on my kitchen windowsill. I didn't actually plant them in these pots but have reserved them for a future idea.

Then I moved the pots to the dining room windowsill. My idea is to make one large low planter to contain all these succulents in a grouping, a mini rock garden. Won't they look good together. I'll put them on my dining room table, I don't dare plant these out of doors since the really cold weather would kill them.

Here are the windowsill pots (mini planters) out of the kiln, a couple from a previous firing (the two dark green ones). The darker one on the far left is a white glaze over a black and it's wonderful. I plan to try that combo on a taller pot so the glaze will show off more. Still more pots to show you from this firing so stay tuned. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. Hello Linda,

Your succulents look good all grouped together in their mini planters. And, although we can see your idea of a large container, we rather like the idea that, in these small individual planters, one can ring the changes frequently. Different plants in different containers and in different groupings, the combinations are endless !

  2. Hi Jane and Lance, thanks, you are so right the possibilities are endless. I could also make a tray to hold the mini pots, more ideas, ha. oh I do love succulents especially since they come in such a variety of shapes and colors and even if not in bloom they are interesting.

  3. Lovely, the greenery does enhance the pottery. And different shapes and textures go well with the earthy shapes and colors of your clay work. Good display.

  6. The succulents look great in the mini-pots all in a row like that. They would look good on a long narrow tray too.

    1. Hi Barbara, thanks, I am also thinking of making a long narrow pot that fits on a windowsill so all the plants can be in one pot with a tray below, it would be good to start seeds in.

    1. Hi Michele, thanks, the secret is not to give them too much water because they absorb the water and store it in their leaves and too much and I think the leaves are drowning.

  9. They look wonderful. It would be an excellent way to display them for sale too. People could immediately see how effective, and beautiful they are.

  10. Hi Sue, thanks, good point, I'll remember to bring some to my sales. I once had someone want to purchase silk flowers from my booth that were display items instead of my pottery. They actually got mad at me for not selling the flowers separately. I should have put a price tag on them for $400 and see what they said, lol.
