Here are the three pieces glazed in winter white. This first bottle is a joy to hold, quite voluptuous.
In the center of this one there's a slight bit of the cream color of the clay peaking through. I'll have to remember to brush plenty of this glaze to keep the white color.
This pot is a wee one, what I'd call a windowsill pot. I used matt black poster paper to photograph these. I like the contrast of the white against the black. Do you think it's too dark? More to come, stay tuned. Thanks for reading and for all you comments.
No, since your lights bring it up into grey...the black doesn't come out black at all...and you get plenty of shading on the white pottery. Nice!
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, thanks, the black poster paper isn't that black anyway, and I figured they'd be washed out with a white background. my graduated backdrop got damaged in moving and have yet to replace it.
ReplyDeleteI like that white glaze!
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with the black paper is that the pots appear to be floating, rather than sitting on a surface. Those graduated backdrops damage so easily. We have one with some scratches on it but rarely use it. A long roll of gray paper works better for us.
Hi Michele, thanks, several folks on clay buddies mentioned that they'd like to see these forms in porcelain so I decided if I glazed it a transparent white it would look like porcelain, lol. I need to find some gray paper, wally world only had white or black and other colors but not gray, I was surprised the graduated backdrop does scratch so easily. If I was a better photographer with this camera I suppose I could make it not appear to be floating, something to work on.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the floating effect. Your winter white looks a warmer colour than I usually associate with the description. Creamy undertones rather than the crisp blue I expected.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, well it was a good title anyway, I always think of clothing when I think of winter white and most are wool coats which are more creamy, lol
DeleteVery rich looking. I love them...
ReplyDeleteHi Turquoisemoon, thanks, I am loving these forms with their textures.
DeleteWell done...they look great! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, thanks so much, I am liking this white glaze
DeleteWe have had good luck buying photo supplies from www.adorama.com.
ReplyDeleteI think they have the rolls of gray paper. Their prices seem to be the best as well.
Hi Michele, oh thanks I will check with them and see what I can do, sometimes I think graduated paper is a bit distracting but then again maybe more acceptable for professional shots.
