At the farmer's market this past weekend my neighboring booth mates were master gardeners. I discovered they were giving away free seeds donated by local gardeners. I chose some I was familiar with: Blue Wild Indigo (Baptista), Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa), Hyacinth Bean (Lablab purpureus), Mole Plant (Euphorbia lathyris), and Money Plant (Lunaria).
In a stash box I rediscovered a seed sower and some plant labels from previous projects. Today I cleaned up my potting bench and I'm sowing these free seeds.
Planting and caring for seeds often takes patience and perseverance but the rewards are great. In woods and abandoned lots free seeds are abundantly available to gather. Some of the seeds may germinate others may not but the reward of seeing new life in seedlings is always worth the effort. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Lunerias have such pretty flowers and a double treat of paper coins. I checked out your previous posts. Very nice mugs.
ReplyDeleteHi Charlene, thanks, I grew lunaria when I lived in California and loved the seed heads for a dry arrangement. I seem to remember they were biennials so I might not get flowers this year, hum. Thanks about the mugs.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with the mole plant they are very invasive~~~~
ReplyDeleteHi Carroll, thanks, good to know, will check up on it
DeleteI know luneria as honesty. And it thrives. And comes back each year.

ReplyDeleteHi Lori, thanks, oh everything I planted last year is taking off and I try to add a little each season as I can afford it. one of my greatest pleasures is seeing what I plant grow to maturity.
