And a bloom is starting on the other yucca too. How wonderful. I'll take photos when they mature to show you.
The two pots are begonias and coleus. Gary spray painted the drab green plastic pots a bright turquoise. (You know how we both like turquoise). I'd like to find a couple of quirky end tables to raise those pots up; we shall see if I find anything. These are on the east side of our home.
Here's an unlikely combination of dill and lantana. The lantana will bloom all summer long and the pot is close to the kitchen so I can harvest fresh dill. These are on the West side of our home.
The farmer's market ramp and plant day yesterday was a success. I had ramp potatoes and ramp pesto; visited with many returning vendors, and sold lots of pottery. Someone who works in the John Campbell School gift shop encouraged me to send in an application to be juried there and to enter their shows. It sure is nice when folks go out of their way to let me know they appreciate my pottery. Next Saturday is the Strawberry Festival so I'll be busy all week long getting ready. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Yay for yucca having blooms, and for your sales and connections yesterday.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, I've seen the dark green yucca before but not this variegated variety, wonder if the flowers are the same white, these seem to have a tinge of pink in them, we shall see.
ReplyDeleteI love turquoise, too. Congrats on having a great pottery sale.
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi, thanks, the turquoise contrast nicely with the brown of the decks.
DeleteOur yucca have not bloomed since the great transplantation of yucca growing where I did not want them. They grow, but I think they are waiting for me to die before they bloom again.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, give them some fertilizer with higher number in the middle NPK - 10-15-15 for example middle number promotes roots and flowers or a weak solution of fish emulsion.
DeleteI love your turquoise planters! As you know, I am also a turquoise and aqua lover. Yesterday I went to an estate auction in hopes of winning the bid on a wrought iron patio set. My plan was to spray it turquoise. In no time it was bid up past my budget, so I went home empty handed :-(
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, that wrought iron bench you see we got at Lowe's when we lived in California along with two chairs and a side table, it unscrews to pack - which as you know we have moved it twice. Ha.
DeleteYay for appreciation. And blooming plants.
ReplyDeleteHi Elephant's Child, thanks, can't wait to see the bloom and I think they last quite some time.
ReplyDeleteso good to hear your back selling your pottery. Nice to have the yuccas flower... we are still waiting for our Gymea Lily flower to open.. first flower in 15 years :)
ReplyDeleteOh I just read that it may not flower for a long time if grown from seed and that a fire or a stone placed in the center encourages blooms, it looks like the yucca, it must be a good year for these types of plants.
DeleteI tried the stone in the centre a couple of years ago, lol. I think it was the unusually good rains in January that has it flowering this year. I can see why you think it looks like a yukka but really they are quite different. The leaves are much softer and they are more like a grass than a cactus. I'll be sure to post when the flower opens :)
DeleteHi Anna, thanks, never heard of that lily flower, is that unusual for it to only flower in 15 years. I must look it up.
ReplyDeleteHello, Linda! I love those blooms. I am glad that the farmer's market and plant day was a success :) happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteHi Keith, thanks, yes Spring is springing all around us.
