Spring Greens
Here are the early Spring greens I'm growing in my raised bin. The red leaf lettuce and romaine are doing the best followed by the broccolini and then the arugula and last the swiss chard. I think the swiss chard needs more sun and heat and the arugula needs more sun as well since it's tending to bolt. I'm not sure I'll get more than one broccolini from each plant so not sure they are worth growing. Nevertheless I'm enjoying seeing these plants mature more each day. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

Yum. There is something about spring greens. And I do hope you get more than one broccolini to a plant.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, maybe I'll get one broccolini and then if I harvest that it will put on side shoots, I'll have to research.
DeleteEven if you don’t get a big crop there is still something satisfying about growing greens in the spring. My perennial herbs are starting to come up, but it’s still way too cold to put any plants out.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzi, thanks, I can't wait to eat something soon, a mixed green salad. My plastic cover is really helping with the cool nights and I open them up during the day, next few days will be lower 70s during the day so they should really put in some more growth.
DeleteYour greens look wonderful! And you don't need to have a big garden if there's just 2 of you. Fresh young greens make wonderful salads.
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, no this is about all I can manage anyway.
DeleteLooks good. But, I think arugula is too bitter to eat.
ReplyDeleteHi Gigi, thanks, I have never had arugula so we shall see I just read that it was really good to eat, I'll mix it with other greens to tame it down a bit.
