At the farmers market this past weekend I was pleasantly surprised to see fresh exotic mushrooms available. Fresh shiitake, lion's mane, and oyster mushrooms. I am familiar with shiitake and oyster mushrooms but have never seen lions mane (center).
Today I made scallops with the shiitake mushrooms. Still thinking of how I'll use the other two varieties of mushrooms. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading and for all your suggestions.
I'm just coming to your home for dinner...! Looks good, but I've never had those other mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, anytime you are welcome; I love trying new foods, we shall see about the others.
ReplyDeleteI love mushrooms, but haven't cooked one for years. Like fifty years.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, fifty years, how can you stand it, they are so good for you
DeleteYum.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we get lion's mane so I am clueless. I adore mushrooms though.
Hi Sue, thanks, it is a strange looking mushroom with a strange texture too, we shall see.
DeleteI used to love mushrooms, especially fresh mushroom soup... until one day eating raw mushrooms gave me an immediate severe migraine. So unfortunately I never ate them again. But it's great that you can enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, I get an immediate headache with msg, so never eating that again either, probably an early allergy warning for you I suspect.
DeleteI love mushrooms. I'm actually cooking some today to go with the steak I intend having for my lunch.
