The other day Gary watched a program about Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. Ajijic sits on the banks of Lake Chapala the largest lake in Mexico. At 5000 foot elevation this tropical town never freezes and is much less hot and humid than most places in Mexico. The year round average temperature is 72 F. Ajijic is pronounced Aah-hee-HEEK .
The streets of Ajijic are narrow and paved with cobblestones. Most homes sit behind brick or rock walls and many have spacious grounds. The town has one of the largest expat populations of Canadians and Americans in Mexico. Ajijic is located half an hour south of the Guadalajara airport. One way or another we're planning to check it out real soon. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
It sounds intriguing. Heat and humidity are never welcomed by me.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, I have no idea how we can get there but I hope something comes up to make it possible.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds great.. I hope you get a chance to make it out there.

Hi Hena, thanks, we are going to try, we have now launched into high gear fixing up our home to sell, we are elderly and want to do what we can when we are still able.
DeleteHow beautiful! Certainly worth checking out! I can understand, from its beauty, why people choose to live there!
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, thanks, I saw another photo and the town is filled with jacaranda trees, we had one when I was a child and I just love their vibrant blue colors.
ReplyDeleteI love Jacarandas....they are out in full bloom here at present. And in Gympie, the town of my childhood...there were many jacaranda trees...so I grew up with them, too. There is one on this property upon which my little cabin is.
