Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all

Bonkers likes to hide in the dryer when we unload the clothes

Sometimes during natural disasters hiding isn't possible. I came across this list of items which disappear first during a natural disaster or crisis; it doesn't hurt to stock up and be prepared. The other day our electricity was off for not that long and I was surprised at how much water we needed to flush our toilets and use for cooking. So I guess in the new year I've been thinking of ways to become more organized, more prepared. What about you? Do you have any new year's resolutions? Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  1. I never make New Year resolutions...but I do always have stocks of water on hand. This property on which I live is dependent on its own water supply...rain and aquifer...beautiful, crystal clear mountain water. If we have a power outage, naturally, the pump doesn't work...hence, no water...just a slow dribble. I've just become accustomed to always keeping three buckets filled with water close by for use in the bathroom if such occurs. And I always boil water for drinking purposes...so I have more than enough of that backed up, too. And, of course, my two furry rascals have to have their supply of water...so all angles are covered here in this little household of mine. :)

My cupboards always are as well-stocked as a supermarket...an old habit handed down from my mother and grandmother...and my years cooking for a living within the hospitality industry. And, again, I always have stacks of packaged/prepared cat food on hand, too. My two have fresh meat for their evening dining...but have packet food, wet and dry, for breakfast/brunch grazing.

    Old habits stick. :)

    1. He Lee, thanks most of my cabinets are filled up too, but it doesn't hurt to take stock every so often.

I hope Bonkers is never hiding in the dryer when it's switched on!! He's a little beauty! :)

  5. Happy New Year Linda... I hope you don't need all the things on that list! No resolutions here - just hopes that I get some good pottery made in 2019

  6. Hi Anna, thanks no I don't need any of them, but something to think about in a crisis or natural disaster that's for sure. I rarely make resolutions either, too easy to break them, ha.

  7. Happy New Year 2019 Linda! I'm afraid that I don't keep stockpiles of anything... well, maybe water... but only enough for a week. The thought of even needing that list is scary... and possibly a sign of the times.

  8. Hi Rian, thanks, yes it is a bit scary but with all the natural disasters recently I can't help but think about it.
