Fresh Maine Lobster

One of our local farmers has seafood brought in.
We splurged on some fresh Maine lobster.
I usually boil lobster, but read it's better steamed.
(Who am I kidding, I can probably count on one hand
how many times I've cooked lobster).
I put them on a vegetable rack in my largest pot.
Steam for 7 to 8 minutes per pound.
Serve with butter for dipping.
Perhaps a squeeze of lemon.
We only had a mandarin. No problem, we adapted.
Yes, they were absolutely delicious.
Be kind to yourselves.
Hope all is well with you all.

  1. I do like lobster, but have only eaten it maybe twice... once in Maine on the beach at an Audubon camp and maybe once on the Gulf coast. Funny though, as much as I like seafood (especially crab), I would have difficulty cooking any of them live. (?)

  2. It's fun to splurge every now and again. I love lobster but have only ever cooked them once in my married life, and the rest have been in restaurants. It's been a long time since I tasted lobster. I would love to go up to New England and try one of their lobster rolls :)

  4. They look delicious.
We may start the summer (such as it is) with lobster when we go to the market next.

    1. Hi Lee, thanks, I could make a habit of lobster. Ha. if only I could afford it, they were $4 a pound in NH when we went up there six years ago.

  6. Looks very yummy indeed! I have never noticed this before, but I was interested to see that one of your lobsters is right handed and the other is left handed! After seeing your photo I did a Google search about Maine lobsters (about which I previously knew almost nothing!) and... indeed they have a crusher claw on one side and a thinner pincher claw on the other... and that some lobsters have the crusher on the left and some have it on the right.. well, you have one of each!
