Black Walnuts

I asked a local group and a person
offered me a box of black walnuts. 
Gary picked up the nuts for me.
I am going to make dye with the walnuts.
First I soak the nuts, then cook the nuts
and then strain out the debris.

The squirrels will get the nuts inside or maybe we will.

This is going to be fun. I am learning so much.
Apparently it is the juice in the outer shell
which makes a rich brown color from the tannin.
If I want a mahogany color, I can add some iron.
Take up a new hobby it keeps your mind active
and your synapses firing.
