Oyster Stew with Hominy


I made a big batch of oyster stew; click the link above for the recipe. I don't know why it's called a stew because it's made just about the same as clam chowder. I had all the ingredients on hand to make this stew: onion, celery, carrots, potatoes, herbs, seasoning, canned oysters, canned hominy, half and half. Only thing different for the stew this time was I added yellow hominy to the soup. The canned oysters and hominy are added right at the end with soup removed from the heat. Since they are canned they are already cooked. They just need to be heated through; the residual heat from the soup heats them up just enough.
