Last of the Vegetables

Last of the Basil

We're expecting cold weather near freezing, so I decided to pick the remining basil still growing. I reasoned I could make some pesto and freeze it, if there was too much. Just leave out the cheese if you plan to freeze since the pesto as freezes much better without it.

You can add freshly grated cheese when you serve the pesto. Since it was raining I didn't even bother to wash the leaves. I don't use any chemicals so no worry. Think we found an errant spider and one earwig.

We also pulled up the tomatillo plants even though they were producing sporadically. Tomatillos freeze quite nicely whole after the skins are removed.

The last of the tomatoes were gone last week. Found out they don't really freeze that well. When they are thawed out they are squishy. So I'll probably thaw them and make a sauce. For recipes do a search on the right side bar. Thanks for reading.
