Maple Leaves & More from the Kiln

Did you see the blue moon? I went out this morning to catch a glimpse. Here are some quick photos I took of the kiln I unloaded last night. Then I had to pack up for the farmer's market. I had three maple leaf bowls in this firing. I'm not sure I want to sell this first bowl; I'm really smitten with it. I glazed it with a celadon glaze, even over the stain. I wasn't sure if the stain would show but it does.

For the other two maple leaf bowls I used a clear satin glaze. This one has a black glaze on the underside.

This maple leaf bowl has a brown glaze on the underside.

This multi colored bowl has a rutile glaze on the underside. These underglazes fire much darker than I wish they did. I have plate drying that I hope dries lighter, we shall see.

This vase has the same rutile glaze.

For this pot I used the same brown glaze as the underside of the bowl.

This vase has the same celadon glaze as the first maple bowl.

Here are two sushi plates, again with the rutile glaze.

Here's a couple of heart dishes with the same rutile glaze. Off to the market now, hope it's a good one. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

White Rabbit, Moon, & Plates

I forgot to remind you to say white rabbit this morning, or rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. Did you remember? Image was borrowed from the net, this rabbit looks so soft and sweet. My grandmother raised rabbits and whenever I see a white rabbit I think of her.

Plate a Day is accepting nominations for plate one thousand. I nominated a couple of my fellow potters for their plates: Michele Hastings for her green carved flower plate, and Ron Philbeck, for his rabbit plate. Check here to see the nominations thus far.

I just came in from outside, have you seen the moon, it's very bright and huge. And it's a Blue Moon, once in a blue moon, the second full moon in the month, if you go out now you can still see it.

Next month will be the Harvest Moon. I'm taking all of these occurrences as positive signs in the universe and hoping to send a few to you. Thanks for your kind thoughts and comments.
