It Snowed, White Rabbit, Sunflower Painting

White rabbit to you all. I am greeted this morning with snow. Just a lite dusting so far. We stocked up on supplies so we'll stay home till it melts. I have plenty to do around here.

Everything in the bisque turned out fine, so I'll be glazing the next few days. I can't believe the thin strips of clay on the tall cat sculpture didn't fall off. I'd like to spray glaze the cat since I don't have enough glaze to dip the whole piece and I don't want to hand brush all those crevices. I didn't sand the rooster bank before the bisque because I was afraid I'd break it. What do you use to sand greenware, a dremmel tool? I also have the rooster and dog headed jars I fired separately and am wondering again the best way to deal with those.

Rather than pen and ink, I decided to work with the acrylic paints I already have. A bit incongruous to see a sunflower this time of year but the bright colors do cheer up ones attitude. I'm practicing on something called canvas paper in an eight by ten inch size. The colors are flat but I'm reading about painting with acrylic paint in several books I've checked out of the library. This morning I can see I have more shading to do to bring out more details. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

An Art Center - what do you think?

While I was at the Trash and Treasures sale the past two days I came across this small concrete white rabbit, I had to bring him home with me. More and more folks are approaching me for pottery lessons. Since our driveway is steep and there isn't much parking it could be a problem having classes at my home. Each person could come individually which doesn't make my time very efficient.

I started thinking about forming an art guild and center here in town much like the Helen Art Center that I belong to. The one in Helen is a 45 minute drive from here so that isn't cost effective for me or others to keep driving to. What do you think? I have enough supplies to outfit the clay portion. I was approached by a water color artist about joining in and I'm sure there are other folks who'd be interested.

The folks in Helen have their building rent donated to them. Hum. That's what I'd need to start an art center here, someone who'd be willing to donate the rent on a building. Also other artists willing to donate their time to help run the center. I'll stop in to see the Chamber of Commerce on Monday to see if they know of any options available around here. This might be more work than I am able to do but no harm in exploring the possibilities. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

White Rabbit, Moon, & Plates

I forgot to remind you to say white rabbit this morning, or rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. Did you remember? Image was borrowed from the net, this rabbit looks so soft and sweet. My grandmother raised rabbits and whenever I see a white rabbit I think of her.

Plate a Day is accepting nominations for plate one thousand. I nominated a couple of my fellow potters for their plates: Michele Hastings for her green carved flower plate, and Ron Philbeck, for his rabbit plate. Check here to see the nominations thus far.

I just came in from outside, have you seen the moon, it's very bright and huge. And it's a Blue Moon, once in a blue moon, the second full moon in the month, if you go out now you can still see it.

Next month will be the Harvest Moon. I'm taking all of these occurrences as positive signs in the universe and hoping to send a few to you. Thanks for your kind thoughts and comments.
